President Donald Trump signed a bill Friday to provide $15 billion in aid for Hurricane Harvey victims.

The bill also includes a debt ceiling extension to keep the government running until early December.

"@POTUS just signed H.R. 601 providing much needed support for storm survivors. Our thoughts and prayers are with all impacted," White House spokeswoman Sarah Sanders wrote on Twitter.

The $15.25 billion bill for Harvey victims passed the Senate on Thursday in an 80-17 vote, and was approved Friday by the House of Representatives in a 316-90 vote.

All opposing votes in both chambers were cast by Republicans, who asked that the debt limit be extended by 18 months.

Trump and Democratic leaders agreed Wednesday to extend the debt ceiling by three months.

With the federal government's funding expiring Oct. 1, the Treasury Department urged Congress to raise the debt limit before the end of the month.

The bill provides a short-term extension for government funding and the federal borrowing limit until Dec. 8.
